1880 Train
The oldest operating tour railroad in the nation, the 1880 Train offers an authentic train ride experience taking riders from Keystone to Hill City and back throughout the summer. Winding its way through the Black Hills, the 1880 Train runs right by Kemp’s Kamp, tooting its horn as it rounds the corner on the edge of camp! With its Keystone depot just two miles from our campground, the 1880 Train is a must for those with young children or those who want to enjoy a relaxing two-hour narrated journey through the hills.
Mt. Rushmore Memorial
With its iconic granite grandeur, Mount Rushmore National Memorial is the centerpiece to the immense excitement the Black Hills has to offer. Paying homage to some of our nation’s most influential leaders, Mount Rushmore remains one of the most famous landmarks in America. Just 5 miles away from Kemp’s Kamp, you’re sure to enjoy the many learning opportunities that await you at Mount Rushmore.
Rush Mountain Adventure Park
Formerly known as Rushmore Cave, Rush Mountain Adventure Park is more than just a cave, it’s a fantastic experience for people of all ages! Whether you’re soaring down their zipline, taking a ride on the mountain coaster, or taking a tour deep into the cave, unlimited fun is available for you just 15 minutes away from Kemp’s Kamp!
Crazy Horse Memorial
Did you know that when you stay at Kemp’s Kamp, you’re just 21 miles away from the world’s largest mountain carving at Crazy Horse Memorial? Considered by many to be the eighth wonder of the world, Crazy Horse is a sight to behold with its jaw-dropping size and cultural significance to the Native American people of South Dakota and the United States. Custer State Park

Reptile Gardens

Known for its enormous collection of reptiles from alligators to tortoises to deadly snakes, Reptile Gardens is a staple of the Black Hills with its large dome and interactive wildlife shows. Only 15 miles away from Kemp’s Kamp, Reptile Gardens offers fun for the entire family.
Badlands National Park
With millions of years backing its geological history, Badlands National Park offers visitors a glimpse back to prehistoric times with its sprawling formations, rugged landscape, and unique assortment of wildlife. Under 90 minutes from Kemp’s Kamp, the kids will love the Ben Reifel Visitor Center and adults will love the cool trails throughout the park offering an up close and personal look at million years of history with every step you take.
Wind Cave National Park
